EduSaver NPC — an Alternative Prosperity Group initiative

Turn your B-BBEE skills spend into real access to higher education.

EduSaver is South Africa's Fundisa Retail Fund equivalent — a subsidised savings and bursary scheme that helps deserving students from low- and middle-income households reach university and college, while your organisation earns verifiable B-BBEE points.

The challenge

Access to education and access to financial services are both broken for the same families.

South Africa's brightest students from low- and middle-income households often fall through the cracks — not poor enough for full state funding, not wealthy enough to self-fund. Meanwhile, organisations sit on B-BBEE skills and SED budgets with few credible, verifiable ways to spend them.

The "missing middle" is real

Households earning too much for NSFAS but too little to self-fund higher education have almost nowhere to turn.

Skills & SED spend needs a credible home

Financial Sector Code (FSC) Fundisa-equivalent points require a properly structured, verification-ready vehicle — not every scheme qualifies.

Impact is hard to verify

Donors want to know their contribution genuinely changed a student's trajectory — not just that a cheque was signed.

Public institutions only go so far

Fundisa-style schemes have traditionally funded public institutions only — leaving private higher education out of reach.

Why EduSaver

We know transformation spend only matters if it's credible, compliant and genuinely changes lives. That's why EduSaver exists.

EduSaver NPC was founded by the Alternative Prosperity Group and is administered through two of its subsidiaries — Admin4Impact (administration) and SolveSA (capital raising) — with governance overseen by an independent board that includes nominees from South Africa's financial services industry bodies. A formal opinion has been signed off by a leading B-BBEE verification agency confirming EduSaver's compliance with Fundisa-like principles and SED requirements.

How it works

One scheme, four moving parts.

EduSaver connects sponsors, savers, education partners and students into a single, monitored flow of funding — from B-BBEE budget to bursary.

01

Sponsors contribute

Financial Sector donors direct Fundisa-equivalent grants; other sectors contribute via SED. Both earn verifiable B-BBEE recognition.

02

EduSaver subsidises savings

Sponsor funds top up the monthly or lump-sum contributions of retail and institutional savers, in partnership with licensed FSPs.

03

Funds reach qualifying beneficiaries

Students from households earning under R600,000 per year access funding for private or public higher education — at least 75% to Black beneficiaries, per FSC requirements.

04

Impact is monitored & reported

EduSaver's board and operational team track outcomes against a defined Theory of Change, and report back to every donor.

The scheme

Everything you need for credible, compliant education funding — in one vehicle.

EduSaver is structured, governed and reported on so that your contribution is both B-BBEE compliant and genuinely accountable.

FSC Fundisa Retail Fund equivalent

Structured and signed off to satisfy the Financial Sector Code's Fundisa-equivalent requirements for verifiable B-BBEE points.

Subsidised savings, not just grants

Sponsor funds top up real investor and saver contributions — building a savings culture alongside the social benefit.

Independent NPC governance

An independent board, including nominees from financial services industry bodies, oversees compliance and fund stewardship.

Verification-ready reporting

Every contribution documented and packaged, so your B-BBEE verification and internal ESG reporting stay clean.

Private & public institution access

Unlike traditional Fundisa funding, EduSaver beneficiaries can study at both private and public higher education institutions.

Impact monitoring & evaluation

A defined Theory of Change and bi-annual impact reporting keep every sponsor informed of real, measured outcomes.

In time, EduSaver also aims to support pipeline development and bursaries for high-demand, maths- and science-related occupations, plus consumer financial education for beneficiaries.

  • Support limited to public institutions only

With EduSaver

  • Verified FSC Fundisa-equivalent B-BBEE points, signed off by a verification agency
  • Independent NPC governance you can point to at audit
  • Bi-annual impact reports tied to a defined Theory of Change
  • Real students, from real households, reaching real degrees
